You can determine directions based on the position of the sun and the watch's compass ring. Note, however, that your latitude and the current season can cause errors in the indicated direction.

1. With the watch horizontal, point the hour hand in the direction of the sun. The centre of the angle formed by the watch's hour hand and 12 o'clock indicates approximate south.

2. Rotate the compass ring so the letter "S" is aligned with the bisecting line. This provides you with approximations of north, south, east, and west.
