Projecting vibrance and beauty with striking creativity and innovation: Rainbow-hued full-metal G-SHOCK design

Taking the first-ever G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, as its starting point, the full-metal GMW-BZ5000 presents a generative design that draws on over 40 years of shock-resistance data, leveraged in a co-creation process between human designers and AI. Now, this very special GMW-BZ5000RC elevates that conceptual and technological approach even further.

The metal center case features a gradient rainbow ion-plated (IP) finish symbolising the brand’s evolution. After applying a base layer of gold IP, the gradient rainbow IP is layered over it, in a two-step process that delivers striking depth and brilliance. Design elements including the rainbow vapor-deposited glass and gold IP front screws accentuate the futuristic structural beauty.

The watch’s highly original structure highlights the dimensional form of the center case while incorporating a resin internal protector to realise a full-metal construction, thereby maintaining the shock resistance that defines G-SHOCK.

State-of-the-art functionality is incorporated with a high-definition memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD and features including Smartphone Link connectivity, Multiband 6 radio control, and Tough Solar charging. Crafted at Yamagata Casio, the “mother factory” where the first-ever G-SHOCK was made, and presented in special packaging, the watch symbolises the G-SHOCK spirit of innovation.

Brilliance in strength, colourful vibrance in evolution

The unique construction connecting the bezel and center case creates structural beauty in the full-metal exterior. Boldly leaving the metal center case exposed, the GMW-BZ5000 carries on the original G-SHOCK spirit of toughness with design elements symbolic of the very first model, while at the same time embodying the powerful determination to achieve a further enhanced degree of aesthetic perfection in full-metal design.

The GMW-BZ5000RC gives this center case vibrant coloration. Gradation with striking depth is achieved through two-stage application of IP. The design embodies the creativity and innovative spirit symbolising G-SHOCK evolution with a vision of enduring radiance. Gold IP is also applied to the front screws, accentuating the metal textural appeal.

The watch face is framed with a border of gradated coloration applied with glass vapor deposition. The vivid hues breathe new life into an iconic design inherited from the very first G-SHOCK.

* The look of the rainbow IP colour will vary from watch to watch.

Structural beauty delivered with an impressive array of metal processing technologies

The bezel and center case design creates a unified overall form with intricate shapes, like lug holes and side notches, that interlock. The complexity of these components, many of which match with intricate counterparts, requires a high degree of precision. The metal processing involved takes a great deal of time and effort, with processes including forging, cutting, and polishing repeated dozens of times.

In addition, each individual component is treated with separate hairline and mirror finishes to reveal contrasting textures and highlight the metal material’s unique textural appeal and depth. The design accentuates the full-metal watch’s sense of presence, projecting both strength and beauty.

New full-metal exterior: Bridging origins and innovation

The full-metal shock-resistant structure features a configuration with the bezel and center case connected at the top and bottom, and incorporates a resin internal protector. The side view of intricately shaped, interlocking metal components, front screws that secure the bezel and center case, and other details come together to achieve an exterior look unlike any other G-SHOCK. While the design inherits the iconic form of the original G-SHOCK, this is a whole new style of full-metal G-SHOCK.

To develop this new design, artificial intelligence was utilised for in-depth analysis and simulations based on years of shock-resistance data gathered from G-SHOCK testing, as well as for optimising 3D modelling of individual components.

The watch employs the three-pronged lug band connection, whose strength was proven in the GMW-B5000, and features the same screw-lock case back as the very first G-SHOCK.

* Due to the screw-lock construction of the case back, the orientation of the logo and lettering on it may not match up perfectly with the dial.

MIP LCD: Enabling adaptable digital representation

The digital display employs a high-definition, high-contrast MIP LCD with a wide viewing angle. This provides more detailed rendering than conventional LCD displays, delivering outstanding readability even in bright outdoor spaces and direct sunlight.

The high-definition full-dot display offers four TIME MODE displays, which the user can select with the touch of a button. In addition, via the app, the main display font can be switched from STANDARD to CLASSIC for a traditional 7-segment look.

Decorative packaging for an extra-special touch

The watch comes in special packaging featuring an original design with a rainbow-colors motif. Environmentally responsible recycled materials are used for the package.

Solar-powered timekeeping with radio control and Bluetooth® connectivity

Smartphone Link and radio-wave time calibration deliver automatically adjusted precision timekeeping. Solar-power charging ensures stable operation of watch functions.
