The AE-1200 features a digital face inspired by instrument panels. The design elements — an analog-style LCD that displays time with digital hands and a world map display — trace their roots back to watches released in the 1980s. To support its multifunction digital interface, the AE-1200 employs an LCD with 248 segments, made possible by precision module design and advanced manufacturing techniques capable of managing complex circuitry with reliable accuracy.

The evolving legacy of multi-display design

In the mid-1980s, the “Twin Graph” AE-200 introduced the analog-style LCD, while the W-50U featured world time with a world map display. Building on the signature features of these two models, the AE-1200 was born — a digital timepiece defined by its distinctive multifunction display.
