The AE-1200 features a digital face inspired by instrument panels. The design elements — an analog-style LCD that displays time with digital hands and a world map display — trace their roots back to watches released in the 1980s. To support its multifunction digital interface, the AE-1200 employs an LCD with 248 segments, made possible by precision module design and advanced manufacturing techniques capable of managing complex circuitry with reliable accuracy.

The evolving legacy of multi-display design

In the mid-1980s, the “Twin Graph” AE-200 introduced the analog-style LCD, while the W-50U featured world time with a world map display. Building on the signature features of these two models, the AE-1200 was born — a digital timepiece defined by its distinctive multifunction display.

Modern Nostalgia

As a kid of the 70's, who grew up in the 80's, Casio digital watches will always hold a certain nostalgic place in my heart and memories, but having said that, as an adult I didn't have a Casio in my watch collection. Saw the Casio World Time and it had a modern and yet vintage aesthetic which I simply had to have. The watch is much lighter in weight than I expected, and still has the hair pinching and slightly rattly strap, although I have no plans to change that's how I seem to remember them anyway. Had a few comments about it already and it's a fantastic everyday watch with a twist. Great all rounder and pleased to now have a Casio in my collection.

Watch was a gift.

It's a lovely classic design from the nineties. My son is very tech savvy and I thought he would enjoy a retro digital style watch from Casio. He gives it 4.5 stars out of 5. He refuses to wear it for work as he says it to good. I never had a Casio to techy for me, now he wants more. It must be a Retro modern classic . Cheers PT.
